How to Block Apps and Websites on iPhone

Updated 1 week ago

Welcome to Bloq! This guide will walk you through creating your first block list to help you minimize distractions and focus on what's important. Let's get started.

Step 1: Create a New Block List

Block Lists are where you group the apps and websites you want to restrict. You can create different lists for different activities, like "Work," "Studying," or "Winding Down."

  1. Open the Bloq app and tap on the Block Lists tab at the bottom.
  2. Tap the '+' icon in the top right corner.
  3. Give your new list a name (e.g., "Work Focus") and choose an icon.
  4. Tap Create List to save it.

Step 2: Add Apps and Websites to Your List

Now it's time to choose what you want to block.

  1. From your new Block List, tap on Add Apps & Websites.
  2. You'll see two tabs: Apps and Websites.
  3. Under the Apps tab, select all the applications you find distracting.
  4. Switch to the Websites tab and enter the URLs of sites you want to block (e.g., twitter.com, youtube.com).
  5. Tap Done when you've added everything you need.

Step 3: Start a Focus Session

With your list created, you're ready to start your first focus session. This will activate the blocks.

  1. Go to the Focus tab in the app.
  2. Tap on Select Block List and choose the list you just created.
  3. Set a timer for how long you want to focus.
  4. Tap the big Start Session button, and Bloq will activate the necessary permissions to begin blocking.

That's it! During your session, any attempt to open a blocked app or website will be redirected back to the Bloq app. Happy focusing!
